Bandura - view as a psychologist
Resources used : Very well mind
Brief Summary: This article focuses on Banduras view as a psychologist on social learning theory .Bandura really stressed the importance of observational learning through imitation and modelling
What I was hoping to find out : I was hoping to see how Banduras social learning theory explained repeated (imitated) behaviour . This was to see how the people you are surrounded by will ultimately influence your own behaviour . Which posed the question for me of whether children who can so easily access media will repeat bad behaviour they see online.
Brief summary of what I've learned : Bandura did a study in which models were aggressive towards a Bobo doll in front of small children ,who were matched on aggression using a matched pairs design, . Ultimately he found that children will imitate behaviour they have seen regardless of whether it was negative or positive .
Reliability of source : The source is currently a participant in the TRUSTe Enterprise privacy & Data Governance Practices Certification. The page itself was factchecked by a lady named Amanda Tust on 15 March 2020. Quotes to use from the website : 'Learning would be exceedingly laborious , not to mention hazardous , if people had to rely solely on the effects of their own actions to inform them what to do .'
'The Bobo doll study was significant because it departed from behaviourism's insistence that all behaviour is directed by reinforcement or rewards. The children received no encouragement or incentives to beat up the doll; they were simply imitating the behaviour they had observed. '
