I gathered both quantitative and qualitative data from my questionnaire , 8 questions were closed questions and required and answer to submit the form , and 2 of the questions were open questions which were optional to answer. The first open question asking to expand their answer to the previous gathered 54 responses , and the second open question asking to finish the statement of 'Being a young person today is... gathered 112 responses .

A particular trend shown in the graph is that questions which asked about hopefulness for the future of themselves and/or the country were heavily dominated by the 'somewhat hopeful' category. What we can take from this is that Gen Z's age between 16-18 are weary and impervious about what the future holds. However results showed that in Question 2 regarding the mental health among younger people , 89% of people either agreed or strongly agreed . What we can take from this is that 16-18 year olds believe that the mental health among their generation is worsening .What i was surprised to find however is that when asked about the negatives and positives of being a younger person in todays society , a few of the categories to choose from were rated slightly similarly in the context of the huge difference for others . These are the results from categories that were rated similarly for both in terms of numbers :
Job opportunities/money was rated as - Positive 37 Negative 59
Responsibility: was rated as - Positive 24 Negative 46
Although the numbers seem distanced at first when compared with all other categories which had a striking difference in the negatives and positives , these results are fairly close. What we can gather from this is that they are some aspects of society that younger people deem as having a similar positive effect to negative . For example social media could be seen as having both positive and negative effects on being a young person in today's society , data from my questionnaire would suggest that 16-18 year olds deem social media as being a more negative aspect of their life, however still notice the benefits it has in society
Strengths and weaknesses of my questionnaire:
Strengths - The questionnaire was sent by email to the whole of the sixth form and participants were informed what the questionnaire was for and what it was regarding. They were also informed that answers would be anonymous to myself and anyone else. This meant that participants willingly chose to take part in the questionnaire , as those that wanted to simply clicked the link and those that didn't would have disregarded the email. By having no contact with me at all and the data being anonymised it means that participants were able to answer truthfully and honestly , after all they had decided of their own back to complete the questionnaire at no advantage to themselves .
Weaknesses - They may have been other mitigating factors that skewed the validity of the results. For example the questionnaire was sent out mid October 2020 in the middle of a pandemic, therefore participants may have been slightly less optimistic than they may have been say if the questionnaire was sent out mid May .
