Brief summary: The Forbes article highlights how Gen Z can be seen as the most contradictory generation, although they ranked lowest as to the fear of coronavirus. However they appear to be the ones who are having the most long-term affects as a result, with many more Gen Z feeling depressed and anxious (issues which once experienced are difficult to escape) .

What I was hoping to find out: I was hoping to find the evidence behind Gen Z feeling pessimistic about their future and contemporary life. A lot of the time the argument is this how i feel so its real, but I wanted to find out in depth the reasoning behind these feelings. Although many people see young people today as having an easy life, I wanted to investigate the challenges for Gen Z in our modern society, and how these views from different generations add to a miscommunication of issues.

Brief summary of what I've learnt: The Forbes article shows that Gen Z are least worried about coronavirus, and also rated as the highest for believing things will go back to normal after the pandemic. Despite all this they were actually the ones who were avoiding places which could be considered 'hotspots' compared to other generations. From this what I take away is the idea that perhaps the society were in in modern day being contradictory in many aspects more than ever, emphasises the contradiction in Gen Z's mind. This contradiction in itself can cause more stress and depression as its difficult to want to achieve two opposing things, or hoping for two opposing things in conjunction which would make them happier. I also think there's an idea among older generations that the younger generation is needy and wants a lot more than any of their generations in terms of freedom and other aspects, however what needs to be realised is that if anything in terms of acceptance, technology, progression at a fast pace. Gen Z are miles different to other generations before them in terms of the amount of knowledge and information they consume and are given. Generations after Gen Z will grow up having the same thing but will be emphasised even more.

Reliability of source: The reliability of the source itself is quite good, as the writer of the article spoke to a guest lecturer of fashion marketing at a university. Therefore not only has the person providing the information had first hand contact with young people as well as older generations, they are not doing the article to persuade or advertise they are purely doing it from a inform point of view. Therefore they would have little to no reason to lie about the information they are presenting.
